Remote Package Handling System Purchased by Victoria International Airport (YYJ)2018-10-15 — Parisien Research Corporation is pleased to announce the sale of a Remote Package Handling System (RPHS) to Victoria International Airport (YYJ), British Columbia. It is expected to be operational by January 2019. This unmanned ground vehicle will transport suspicious packages from the airport cargo and checked baggage area to a designated disposal area away from flight operations and the passenger terminal. The vehicle will be controlled remotely by airport staff as it departs the cargo and baggage area and transits to the disposal site.
Interview with Neil Drachenberg, Kewlowna International Airport
After the installation of the Remote Package Handling System (RPHS) at Kelowna International Airport, Airport Safety & Security Manager, Neil Drachenberg, talked about the successful implementation of the RPHS. He explains how the system works and how it has improved airport safety and security when dealing with suspicious packages.
NEW Police Operations Support System2018-03-19 — Parisien Research Corporation has developed a new robotic vehicle called the Police Operations Support System (POSS) which is a derivative of our Dismounted Patrol Cargo Carrier (DPCC) concept conceived for the Canadian Army to carry the equipment of a dismounted combat engineer patrol. The POSS is based on the electric Argo Atlas J6 XTR™ (six wheels) and the Argo Atlas J8 XTR™ (eight-wheels) all-terrain unmanned ground vehicles. These vehicles can be equipped for follow-me, tele-operation, or autonomous operation. A GPS-denied environment navigation package is available as an option for vehicles that might be used in subway or mine tunnels. Both vehicles can be air-lifted by helicopter. Both vehicles can pull trailers to transport additional equipment, fuel, and supplies.
Police tactical or specialized teams operating in rural areas face the same challenges as their military counterparts - rough, wooded, or swampy terrain, large amounts of heavy equipment to carry, and the need to resupply personnel once they are deployed. The POSS is the solution to those challenges enabling the same base vehicle to be used in some cases for different applications by simply switching the payload.
Remote Package Handling System Operational at Kelowna International Airport2018-03-19 — Parisien Research Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction into service of the Remote Package Handling System (RPHS) at Kelowna International Airport, British Columbia. This unmanned ground vehicle safely transports suspicious packages from the airport cargo and checked baggage area to a designated disposal area away from flight operations and the passenger terminal. The vehicle is controlled remotely by airport staff as it departs the cargo and baggage area and transits to the disposal site where the suspicious package can be dealt with by an explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) team.
Normally when a suspicious package is identified, airport staff leave it in place, call in police EOD, shutdown airport operations, and evacuate the terminal. Depending on the availability and proximity of an EOD team, the airport could be shut down for many hours, causing massive inconvenience to passengers and loss of revenue due to cancelled or delayed arrivals and departures. Where the RPHS is in use, disruptions to operations are minimal and the terminal does not need to be evacuated as evacuations on their own can be inherently dangerous to those involved.
The RPHS is built on the Argo Atlas J6Tm chassis and controlled by the Advanced Robotics Intelligence System (ARIS)Tm developed by Provectus Robotics Solutions of Ottawa. A side dump box that meets recommended RCMP standards for bomb disposal containers is installed on the top of the chassis. The dump box is capable of handling a range of package sizes weighing in excess of 45 kilograms.
